Wells, Ryan

Ryan Wells is a long-time force in Parts Unlimited AFT Singles competition. He’s been winning races at that level since 2012 and now ranks among the class’ all-time winningest riders. The Upstate New Yorker first rose to prominence as an amateur and was named AMA Youth Dirt Tracker of the Year in 2007. He hinted at his single-cylinder expertise three years later, taking the 450 DTX AMA Grand National Championship in 2010. Following a race-winning rookie professional effort in ‘12, Wells came within a single point of claiming the 2013 GNC2 title. He enjoyed another strong season by finishing third the following year. Everything finally clicked in 2016, when Wells won the GNC2 crown by 65 points on the strength of five victories and nine podiums in 14 races. That undeniable level of success served as a springboard to Mission SuperTwins competition in 2017. He registered seven top tens, including a season’s best run of fourth at the Charlotte Half-Mile. However, despite demonstrating his promise in the premier class, Wells returned to 450cc duty in 2018. He effectively picked up where he left off, winning races in ‘18 and ‘19 while ending up ranked second and fourth, respectively. Unfortunately, his 2020 season was cut short due to injury. After finishing on the podium at Williams Grove, Wells was unable to complete the final eight races of the season. While his 2021 and 2022 campaigns were uneven, Wells reminded the paddock of his old form in ‘22, claiming top-ten finishes in Parts Unlimited AFT Singles and Mission Production Twins competition. Following a season in Mission SuperTwins in 2023 in which he secured a top-ten results among 14 points-paying finishes, Wells returns to Parts Unlimited AFT Singles duty for 2024.
