Cipala and Rassa Top Round 2 at Freemansburg I
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 20, 2023) - The American Hillclimb East championship made its way to Freemansburg, PA, for round 2 on June 4, 2023. The weather was hot and hill conditions were dry, but the fans still showed up in record numbers.
In the 450 class it was John Koester on his Honda leading the field after the first half with a 13.282-second time. In the second round, Logan Cipala on his GAS GAS put down a time of 12.143, setting the new standard for the class and dropping Koester down to second. Rounding out the top three was Braiden Henry aboard his Yamaha with a 13.507 second run.
In the Twins class, John Koester was leading after the first round on his Yamaha with a 11.608 run. In the second round, Logan Cipala on the Buell turned in a 11.398 run edging out Koester into the number two spot. Logan Peterson on his Aprilia would fill the final podium spot with a 11.8280-second time.
In the Premier class, it was once again Koester leading the way on his Nitro Honda CBR 600 with a time of 10.439. In the second round, Corbin Davis set the new fast time with a 10.290-secnd run on his Dehart Racing Nitro Honda CBR 1000. That was short lived however, as another DeHart Racing member, Ryan Rassa, took the lead with a 9.665-second run on a Nitro Honda CBR 636. Koester was unable to answer back and would have to settle for third behind Davis and Rassa.
